From Windows 95 to Modern IT — My Journey

Hi, I’m Rajesh Meitei.

My journey in IT started in a very different era—back when computers ran on Cyrix CPU systems with black-and-white monitors. My first personal desktop came with Windows 95, and that moment sparked my curiosity for technology. What began as simple exploration soon turned into a lifelong career.

Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked in IT support and desktop engineering, solving real-world problems and helping users stay productive. From fixing everyday system issues to handling complex enterprise environments, I’ve always enjoyed making technology work smoothly for people.

Early in my career, I gained hands-on experience in LAN networking within educational institutes, where I set up and maintained networks for labs, classrooms, and administrative systems. I also worked with VSAT systems, ensuring connectivity in remote and challenging environments—experiences that taught me the importance of reliable infrastructure.

As technology evolved, so did my journey. I moved from desktops to laptops and eventually into modern Apple devices. Along the way, I built strong expertise in Windows, macOS, Active Directory, device provisioning, and global remote support.

One of my proud moments was handling a high-volume deployment—configuring and joining 20+ macOS devices to Active Directory in a single day, even without a corporate network. This included performing OOBE (Out-of-Box Experience) setups remotely at users’ homes using tools like TeamViewer. It was challenging, but it proved that with the right approach, even complex tasks can be handled efficiently.

My work has also connected me with users across the globe. I’ve supported teams remotely in the UK, Ukraine, UAE (Dubai), Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and Germany. These experiences helped me understand different work cultures, environments, and user expectations.

Over the years, I’ve built my career around these technologies—starting with Microsoft and gradually expanding into Apple—and earned my livelihood through them. I hold certifications in Microsoft IT Support, Administration, Apple Device Support, and many more.

Now, I feel it’s time to give back.

This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned—practical solutions, real-world troubleshooting, and hands-on experience with Intune, SCCM, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 (O365). My goal is simple: to make technology easier to understand and more useful for everyone, especially those working in IT support.
